The “day of the LORD” is very important in Scripture. It refers to the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ. This can encourage believers (those of us who love Him, those of us that are looking forward to His coming, or those of us God has made just by Jesus dying for our sin and resurrecting for our righteousness). It encourages believers that we do not receive Christ’s judgment. Normally, even the saved, believers, or Christians are afraid of “the day of the LORD,” as it is a time of terrible judgment for unjust unbelievers. That is terrifying. This article provides strong context and background for the 2 Thessalonians 2 lesson. There we see a similar phrase called “the day of Christ” (found only 3 times in all of Scripture: Php. 1:10; 2:16; 2Th. 2:2). This phrase is used to encourage believers, Christians, or the Church, that our Savior, the Messiah has not come back yet. This phrase becomes crucial for many scholarly studies of Eschatology (study of last, future, or final events). This is especially pertinent to the Rapture (Christ coming for the Church meeting them in the air) and the Second Coming of Christ (Christ coming with His Church to earth in judgement). Frequently, this context is crucial for when Christ comes in relation to Tribulation and Millennial views respectively. The post below simply explores some names, duration, and descriptions of “the day of the LORD.”
Names
The “day of the LORD” (Is found 31 times in the Bible). It is also referred to as:
- “The time of the end” (Dan. 12:4).
- “The latter days” (11 times).
- “Last days” (8 times).
- “The time of Jacob’s trouble” (Jer. 30:7).
- “The end of the world” (7 times).
- “End of days” (Dan. 1:18; 4:34; 12:13).
- “The tribulation” (Mat. 24:29) or many call “The Tribulation Period” to distinguish it from tribulation that everyone does and has experienced throughout history.
- “That tribulation” (Mar. 13:24).
- “The great and dreadful day of the LORD” (Mal. 4:5).
- The “great tribulation” (Mat. 24:21; Rev. 2:22; 7:14).
Duration
It is said to be 7 years, “one week” [of years], or “the week“ [of years] in duration (Dan. 9:27; cf. Gen. 29:18, 20, 27-28, 30). This gets even clearer, when the Tribulation is described as:
- Divided into 2 equal parts, where in the middle the Antichrist “shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation.” It is said to last for:
- “A time and times and the dividing of time” (Dan. 7:25) or 3 and 1/2 years.
- “A time, times, and a half” (Dan. 12:7) or 3 and 1/2 years (1 time + 2 times + .5 times = 3.5 times).
- “A time, and times, and half a time” (Rev. 12:14) or 3 and 1/2 years. This time frame is again stated in months as:
- “Forty and two months” or 42 Months, which is 3 and 1/2 years (Rev. 11:2; 13:5). It is again stated in days as:
- “A thousand two hundred and threescore days” or 1260 Days, which is 3 and 1/2 years (Rev. 11:3; 12:6).
- “A thousand two hundred and ninety days” or 1290 Days after the “sacrifice shall be taken away, and the abomination that maketh desolate” happens (Dan. 12:11). So, 30-days before or after the last 3.5 years of the 7 year tribulation.
- “The thousand three hundred and five and thirty days” or 1335 Days til the amazing blessings of the Millennial Kingdom (Dan. 12:12). So, 75 days after the last 3.5 years of the 7 year tribulation.
Description
- “For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.” (Mat. 24:21; cf. Mar. 13:19; Dan. 12:1).
- “And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect’s sake those days shall be shortened.” (Mat. 24:22; cf. Mar. 13:20).
- “Howl ye; for the day of the LORD is at hand; it shall come as a destruction from the Almighty” (Isa. 13:6).
- “Behold, the day of the LORD cometh, cruel both with wrath and fierce anger, to lay the land desolate: and He shall destroy the sinners thereof out of it.” (Isa. 13:9).
- “For it is the day of the LORD’S vengeance, and the year of recompenses for the controversy of Zion” (Isa. 34:8).
- “For this is the day of the Lord GOD of hosts, a day of vengeance…” (Jer. 46:10).
- “Alas for the day! for the day of the LORD is at hand, and as a destruction from the Almighty shall it come” (Joel 1:15).
- “For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night” (1Th. 5:2).
- “But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up” (2Pe. 3:10).

# The Day of the LORD”#
lt has been quoted,
¶ it is a time of terrible judgment for unjust unbelievers ¶
The Day of the Lord, will not be the time of judgment, but will be in the appointed time,
at the end times. As written in, (Daniel 8: 1)
‘The Day of the Lord will be at the appointed time, of the end : ‘Behold, I will make thee know what shall be in the last end of the indignation: for at the time appointed the end shall be.’
This day and the judgement are different things.
This would be the overall explanation _:
Question :_How will be the Day of the Lord ?
Answer :_
lt is about Gods avengeful., indignation, wrath. These are the consistent 3 verses._:
1)(Jer. 46. :10)
‘For this is the day of the Lor d GOD of hosts, a day of ven geance, that he may avenge him of his adversaries
2)( Zephaniah 1 : 8, 3 : 8)
‘And it shall come to pass in the day of the LORD’s
sacrifice, that I will punish the princes, ‘3 : 8’ Therefore wait ye upon me, saith the LORD, until the day that I rise up to the prey: for my determination is to gather the nations, that I may assemble the kingdoms, to pour upon them mine. ‘indignation, even all my fierce anger: for all the earth shall be devoured with the fire of my jealousy.
About last days,Jesus Christ had given the sequence of tribulation period and the rapture, in Matt. 24, Mark 13:5_27, & Luke 21, The sequence is, _:Signs, Antichrist, Tribulation period, & rapture.
The signs will be _:

(Matt, 24:22 )
v) Arising of false Christs and false Prophet s (Matt, 24:11, 24)
vi ) Building of 3rd Temple ( Mark 13 :14)
All the above things will happen in three and half years,, which will be Tribula tion period.lt is written in,

the regular burnt offering is taken away and the abomina tion that makes desolate is set up, there shall be 1,290 days.’ ( 1290 days = 43 months = 3& half yrs).
lt is also given in ( Daniel 9 : 27,),
‘And he( Antichrist ) shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations.’
Here 1week means 7 years. =Total Tribulation period.
ln the first 3 & 1/2 yrs, he will talk nicely with all nations, but afterwards he will sit in the 3rd Temple., saying “l am God, worship me ”
Then will be, rapture – :
(Matt, 24: 30, 31).’And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven,Angels shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other’.
(1 Thessalonians 4 :15-17) also denotes about the Coming of Jesus in the air and the rapture.
’15For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.
16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.’

And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name. Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six.’

The satan will be bounded for 1,000 years, meanwhile Jesus will be with his congregation reigning 1,000 yrs, which is Millennium period, then satan will be released, and afterwards will be put in hell permanently.
And then will be the Judgement, when the unbelievers will wake up.
