Question: How can Jesus “be the first that should rise from the dead” (Acts 26:23), “the firstborn from the dead” (Col. 1:18), and “the firstfruits of them that slept” (1Co. 15;20), when many others were raised from the dead by God (2 widow’s sons-1Ki. 17:22; Luke 7:14-15, a Shunammite’s son-2Ki. 4:18-37, Jairus’s daughter-Luke 8:40-56, and Lazarus-John 11:43-44) prior to Jesus’ actual resurrection?
Answer: God has raised many back to life in their first physical body, that died (physically again). Jesus was the first to raise Himself, and the first to resurrect to a final glorified eternal body that will never die. The way we interpret the meaning of these resurrections is that Jesus was the first and first fruits of the first resurrection, where He is the first to be resurrected into an eternal glorified (celestial) body. All others that God raised were earthly, temporary restorations of their physical (terrestrial) body, that all died again, and all are awaiting the first resurrection, which Jesus has already experienced, and as such is the first.
